I can’t tell you how many times a client will sit in my chair and the first thing she asks me is “Can you take 15 years off?” while tugging at her eyes or neck and chin. While our goal is to make you look like the best version of yourself with fresh, modern hair and makeup,
Not only do we recommend Dr. Rebecca Weiss, but we are her clients! We asked Dr. Rebecca to tell us a little more about what she can offer brides, moms, and friends and family for ensuring a flawless look for the big day:
As brides are getting older these days, many are including cosmetic medical treatments as a part of their wedding to do’s to prepare for the big day. My patients are often in their 30’s before they get married and, as such, are more interested in getting their skin and bodies ready for the main event. Treatment like Botox, Dermal Fillers, Laser Resurfacing, Liposonix and SmartLipo are gaining popularity amoungst the group. The following list is a guide to the most popular cosmetic treatments – the when, the why, and the how much. While these treatments may not be suitable for all brides (or all mother-of-the-bride or groom), hopefully, you will find this list helpful in determining whether you may want to pursue more advanced cosmetic treatments prior to your big day!
Botox is a purfied protein deriviative of the botulism toxin. Injections into facial muscles of the upper face (mid-brow, crows feet and forehead) work to relax muscle groups in these areas with resulting wrinkle-reduction in the overlying skin. Treatments last 3-4 months in duration. Since Botox can take 1-2 weeks to start working after injection, I recommend having your treatment at least 1 month prior to your wedding day to allow for any necessary touch-ups 2 weeks after your initial session. Treatments cost anywhere from $200-$600 depending upon the amount required for your treatment. Treatments can benefit both the bride and mother-of-the-bride/groom.
(Juvederm, Restylane, etc) – Dermal Fillers are typically made of substances like hyaluronic acid. When injected into facial wrinkles, they act to plump up the area, minimizing lines and folds in the skin. Most commonly injected into areas around the mouth (nasolabial folds), cheeks, and lips. Results from these injections are immediate and can last up to 12 months (yea!) but can also result in localized swelling or bruising, so I recommend, again, that injections are done 1 month prior to your wedding day. Treatments can cost anywhere between $450-$1500 depending upon the amount needed. Dermal Fillers are appropriate for both the bride and mother-of-the-bride/groom.
Peels can help to clear acne breakouts, as well as, improve sun damage and your overall complexion. Treatments are quick and easy to administer and, depending upon the depth of the peel, may result in a little skin peeling or a lot of skin peeling, which usually begins around day 2-3 after the treatment. If acne is a problem for you, I would recommend doing a series of 3-6 treatments starting several months before your wedding day. If you are just doing a peel to brighten your complexion before your big day, then you could do one 3-4 weeks before the wedding. Treatments typically run any where from $100-$300 depending upon the type of peel used. These treatments are great for the bride but, depending upon the age of the mother-of-the-bride/groom, may not be agressive enough to make a noticible difference for the wedding day.
Lasers tend to provide deeper resurfacing than chemical peels and are capable of turning back the hands of time by minimizing wrinkles, improving skin laxity and pigmentation. A series may be necessary to achieve adequate results, so I recommend starting these treatments several months before the wedding day. Laser Facials are relaxing treatments with minimal pain. The treatment warms the skin which may also stimulate some collagen production in the deeper skin tissues. There is no down time this procedure other than mild irritation at specific targeted spots.
